STEM is an engaging course that introduces students to engineering. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The purpose of the class is to open the opportunity of engineering to many at an earlier age. Students use systematic and creative approaches to solve real-world inspired tasks. Students also work collaboratively in groups of 2 - 4 to complete simple to complex tasks.
This course consists of 4 units:
Intro to Engineering:
Students will be learning about what engineers actually do, major STEM principles, and the many different careers in STEM fields.
Design Process:
Students will be learninghow engineers solve problems using a systematic approach and critical thinking.
Design and Modeling:
Students will be learning about measurements, sketches, and 3D computer modeling.
Automation and Robotics:
Students will learn about mechanisms, robots, and computer programming in a fully immersive, hands-on environment. We use the PLTW GTT VEX robotics kits.
