Chico Junior High School was constructed in 1953 and currently has an enrollment of approximately 825 students in grades 6, 7 and 8. There are 2 administrators and 37 teachers with a student to teacher ratio of 165:1. The district spends an average of $3,490 per student. Chico Junior has an active PTSA, School Site Council, and parent volunteer participation. We have a strong leadership that believes in our students. A general atmosphere of "we can" is prevalent.

Our curriculum is diverse, with literature and writing emphasized. We are also one of the leaders in California in developing the Industrial Technology program recommended for middle schools. We are a leader in technology in Northern California, with 4 full classroom labs, multiple mini labs throughout our campus and mobile laptop labs.  Our campus is networked with a fiber optic backbone and all computers have Internet connectivity.
